Agar Ethiopia conducted strategic plan workshop


The first strategic plan of Agar Ethiopia ends on December 31, 2014. Hence, the second strategic plan workshop was held on November 2014 at Monarc International Hotel in the presence of donors, government and non-government stakeholders including board of directors and staff.

Agar Ethiopia Graduated Vocational Skill Trainees.


One of the programs of Agar Ethiopia is to provide life, vocational and basic business skills.Accordingly, agar Ethiopia has trained and graduated 123 retunee victims of trafficking on November 18, 2014 at Addis Ababa Hilton Hotel in the presence of government officials Diplomats Ambassadors and families of graduates.

Agar Ethiopia held its general assemble.


The general assemble held on Feb. 8, 2014 at Wabi Shebele Hotel. The purpose of the meeting was to evaluate and endorse performance report of 2013 and annual action plan of 2014.

Agar Ethiopia has received more than 450 victim of human trafficking in a year.


As the mission of agar Ethiopia charitable society is to facilitate strategic partnership to improve the quality of life for elderly people, victims of human trafficking and mentally ill by addressing their physical, emotional and mental as well as spiritual needs by empowering them to meet their own needs by themselves, it has received, rehabilitated and re integrated more than 450 returnee victims of trafficking within one year(January-December 2014).most of the returnees were from the kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Agar developed first strategic plan

Agar developed its first strategic plan on October 2011 with a mission to supports and cares for human trafficked women and the indigent elderly with the long-term goal of empowering them to meet their own needs. The implementation period for this strategic plan is from beginning of October 2011 to end of December 2014.The fundamental building blocks objectives that reflect the organizational programatic aspects of Agar includes:
1.To strengthen the provision of comprehensive services (shelter, food, and clothing, psycho-social and medical service) to trafficked women and reintegrate them in to the society
2.To contribute to the reduction of human trafficking by increasing community awareness on its consequences to the vulnerable groups.
3.To strengthen the provision of comprehensive services (shelter, food, and clothing, psycho-social and medical service) to the most vulnerable elderly people and whenever possible reintegrate them into society
4.To improve Agar's institutional capacity for better service provision in the area of human trafficking and elderly care (Trafficking Victims Reintegration Program and ESP).

Agar Reregistered

Agar formally registered and licensed by the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia’s Ministry of Justice with a legal name “Agar Yearegawyan Erdata Mescha Mahiber”. In accordance with the new legislation of Charities and Societies Proclamation number 621/2009;Agar reregistered on November 9, 2009 as Ethiopian resident charity known as “Agar Ethiopia Charitable Society” under certificate 0496.

Agar Gained collaboration from other organizations.

Agar in its relentless effort to support the most needy elders has raised fund and is assisting male and female victims elders here in addis Ababa. Beside this it has created collaboration with Ethiopia Orthodox Church-Development Inter Church Aid commissin (EOC-DICAC) , DIR of Holland and ARRD to render service to human trafficking victimize returnees from the middle east focusing on rehabilitation(hosting medical service as well as training in marketable skills to be self sufficient and productive citizens when they integrate into the society).

Agar ye-aregawiyan Erdata Mescha Mahber Established.

Passionate woman named Sasu Tesfamariam initiated “Agar ye-aregawiyan Erdata Mescha Mahber” in April 2005 sharing her vision with individual valuators who committed themselves to alleviate the suffering of most needy elders in Ethiopia.
